Dryness Measurement — Throttling Calorimeter
The true dryness of the line steam from the pressure and temperature measured in the calorimeter.
Inputs
Dryness in the line
0.9598
Moisture fraction
0.0402
Details
| Verdict | Acceptable, but a separator would pay |
| Measured enthalpy | 2,696 kJ/kg |
| Superheat in the calorimeter | 10.03 K |
| Saturation temperature in the line | 179.9 °C |
Assumptions
- Throttling is isenthalpic and the calorimeter is taken as adiabatic; heat loss lowers the measured temperature and understates the dryness.
- The method is valid only if the steam is SUPERHEATED in the calorimeter. Otherwise the temperature carries no information about dryness.
