What this tool does

FlowLab provides free calculations for engineering PRE-ASSESSMENT of steam and condensate systems. The inputs are yours and the calculations run in your browser.

Every calculation shows the standard and the equation it rests on. Every calculation is verified against the reference values published in that standard, or against hand-worked examples.

What this tool does not do

The results are NOT A PRODUCT SELECTION COMMITMENT. Final equipment selection is the responsibility of an engineer who sees the whole system, its operating conditions and the applicable local regulations.

Pressure equipment, safety valve and structural calculations MUST be carried out and approved by qualified people under the applicable design code. The figures here are an input to that work, not a substitute for it.

The assumptions are written out under every calculation. If they do not match your plant, neither does the result.

Liability

The tool is provided “as is”. Ayvaz does not warrant that the calculations will be uninterrupted or free of defects, and is not liable for direct or indirect damages arising from its use. Responsibility for use rests with the user.

If you believe you have found an error, tell us. Showing the source of each calculation exists for exactly this: a number should be arguable.

Data

Calculations run in your browser; the numbers you type are NOT sent to the server. If you share a link, the inputs travel inside the address — sharing is your choice.

If you ask for a PDF report we take your email address and that calculation’s inputs: we send a one-time code to verify the address and build the report on the server. The address is NOT written to a permanent record; it is held only for the life of the verification and the download link (24 hours) and appears in logs masked.

Whose calculations these are

Every calculation here was written by Ayvaz from public engineering ground: IAPWS-IF97, Darcy–Weisbach, Lockhart–Martinelli, IEC 60534, ISO 4126, EN 13480, EN 1092-1 and ASME B36.10M. No other product’s code, text, screens or data have been used.
