Improved Dryness by Pressure Reduction
Dryness after throttling; give a separator efficiency and the dryness after separation follows.
Inputs
Outlet dryness
0.9310
State at outlet
Wet steam — no separator
Details
| Dryness after throttling (before separator) | 0.9310 |
| Conserved enthalpy | 2,576 kJ/kg |
| Outlet temperature | 133.5 °C |
| Superheat at outlet | 0 K |
| Remaining moisture fraction | 0.0690 |
Assumptions
- Throttling is isenthalpic: enthalpy is conserved, with no work or heat exchange. No energy is ADDED; the same energy corresponds to a higher dryness.
- Separator efficiency is the fraction of INCOMING moisture removed; the separated water leaves as condensate and the steam flow drops accordingly.
