Desuperheating — Injection Water

The water to inject to bring superheated steam down to a target temperature, and the resulting flow.

Unit system

Inputs

Injection water flow

1,550kg/h

Outlet steam flow

11,550kg/h

Details

State at outletSuperheated, margin retained
Water-to-steam ratio0.1550
Saturation temperature at this pressure179.9 °C
Remaining superheat at outlet5.114 K

Assumptions

  • Pure energy balance: mixing is taken as adiabatic and complete; line heat loss and incomplete mixing are not included.
  • The injected water evaporates and ADDS to the outlet flow — the process side sees more than the inlet flow.
