Condensate from Compressed Air

The water dropping out after the compressor and aftercooler, the dew point, and the cooler’s latent load.

Unit system

Inputs

Condensate formed

7.28kg/h

Water per day (litres)

174.7

Details

Pressure dew point at outlet35 °C
Dew point at intake19.15 °C
Intake humidity ratio (kg/kg dry air)0.01392
Outlet humidity ratio0.00441
Latent load on the aftercooler5.057 kW
Water per year (m³)44

Assumptions

  • The air is taken as SATURATED at the aftercooler outlet. With a dryer the dew point falls further and condensation continues there.
  • Air is an ideal gas; the water vapour partial pressure comes from the IAPWS-IF97 saturation curve.
